The Red Table Talk is a web series television talk show starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris who sit around a red table, discussing, interesting and relevant contemporary social issues that first premiered on May 7, 2018 on Facebook.
On June 13, 2018, it was announced that Facebook had ordered an additional thirteen episodes of the series. These new episodes premiered on October 22, 2018.
By July 17, 2018, the show’s debut episode had been watched 27 million times and episode ten had accumulated 21 million views.
Then, Facebook renewed the show for a second season of at least twenty episodes, to premiere on May 6, 2019.
The show has also received an 2019 Daytime Emmy Award and an People’s Choice Award nomination in the informative talk-show category and has won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Host in Talk or New Information.
There has been several guest to grace the red table from Toni Braxton, Common, Gabrielle Union, Tiffany Haddish, Cesar Millan, Jane Elliot, Will Smith, Kid Cudi, Don Lemon, Wale, Ciara, to Leah Remini, just to name a few.
Jada, Willow and Gam provide a forum where the perspectives of three different generations are shared which brings straightforward conversations about different issues within the context of helping others, to heal.
Many of these exchanges, address topics like coping with addiction, domestic violence, sex, marriage, divorce, political issues, racism, body image issues, sexuality and Hollywood gossip-related topics but overall the conversations are honest and sometimes constructive testimonials which help people to understand their lives and the lessons, that come with it, as a way to heal and empower.
